Appointment of Adjunct Professor of Environmental studies DMU is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Mukhtar ul-Hassan as Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies. Prof Muhktar is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Brunel University, UK Mukhtar ul-Hassan
Personal Profile: Dr Mukthar ul Hassan holds MSc and MPhil degrees in Chemistry from Pakistan and a PhD degree from Brunel University, London. The subject of his research for his PhD was the 'Development of Novel Technology for Simultaneous Recovery of Metals from and Destruction of Organic Molecules in Aqueous Systems which led to a number of publications including a publication in the highest-rated Environmental journal, Environmental Science and Technology.
Since completing his PhD in 2000, Dr ul Hassan has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Centre for Environmental Research, working on a range of projects of particular benefit to industry. Dr ul Hassan has played an active role in the day-to-day supervision and training of postgraduate MSc students and research students.
He is currently undertaking a PG Certificate in Higher Education at Brunel. His professional qualifications include: Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, MRSC C.Chem and Affiliated Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, AMCIWM.

Chancellor created a Freeman of the City of London
The Chancellor of Dublin Metropolitan University Prof Wolfgang Lutz MD, PhD
was created a Freeman of the City of London together with his wife Helen.
The ceremony was conducted by Alderman John Stuttard, Lord Mayor of the City
of London and held in the Guild Hall on 21st May 2007.
As head of the City of London, the Lord Mayor presides over its governing bodies
- the Court of Aldermen and the Court of Common Council. He is Chief Magistrate
of the City of London, Admiral of the Port of London, Chancellor of City University
and President or Patron of many other civic and charitable organisations.
